Welcome to Traveler 1.6a

Please read this whole file; it explains all the features of Traveler.

RELOADING Traveler:
If you delete the registered version, or your Pilot crashes, you
can recover your registration AS LONG AS you have hotsynced at
least once. Install Traveler as you normally would, but before you
hotsync to download, look in your Pilot desktop. In your user folder
you will see a Backup folder. Go into this and install the file named
TravelerDB.pdb just as you would install a regular application.
Now hotsync. Traveler will be restored as well as your database and
registration information as of the last time your data was saved.

NOTE: You will be prompted to enter your home information again.
Sorry, but I had to change the format of the home data.
Just reenter your info. Your saved locale records will be unaffected.

Changes since 1.6:
1.6a is a bug fix release. 1.6 had some experimental features intended
for 1.7 accidentally enabled. This would cause Pilot crashes when
saving modified locale records.

Changes since 1.5:
A bug was fixed that would crash the Pilot if Graffitti was used
to enter a total for reverse calculations. Using the numeric entry
popup worked correctly.

More timezones were added; hopefully, every existing timezone.
If there's one I missed, let me know.

A new feature was added for certain Canadian cities. This may also
be applicable elsewhere. In the Other menu, the checkbox Cumulative
Taxes can be checked. This will cause taxes to be computed slightly
differently. Instead of total = amt + (amt * tax1) + (amt * tax2)..,
cumulative taxes compute each tax on the amount and ALL PREVIOUS TAXES.

Example: If tax1 is 10% and tax2 is 10% and the amount is $1, regular
calculations will give $1.20; cumulative will give $1.21!

Changes since 1.4:
You can now have transactions posted to a Memo of your choosing.
Use the menu item Edit/Memo, command shortcut M, to invoke this.
You will then be able to specify the memo name, a note, and just what
is to be automatically included in the entry posted to the memo.
Each new transaction is appended to the end of the memo if it already
exists. You can enable auto-posting from the Options/Other menu.
If enabled, whenever you enter an Amount, the memo popup will be
automatically invoked. Note that this will happen ONLY if you enter
an Amount. Changing any other field will not auto-post, use the
Edit/Memo selection if you really do want to post.

Reverse conversions can now be done.
You can enter a total in either home or local currency, and Traveler
will back-compute any tax items that are enabled, as well as the
original amount. The Other field is ignored for reverse conversions.
The home and local Total fields can also be pasted to, as well
as copied from.

Changes since 1.3a:
The Amount and Other fields on the main screen can now be directly
changed using Grafitti or by using the Edit menu Copy and Paste
commands. The calculated home and local Total fields can
be copied, but not pasted.
If you want to enter an amount using Grafitti or by pasting,
select the field and write the new value. Then tap the associated
button. Instead of the numeric keypad popping up, the field value
will be processed.

You should HotSync after registering so your registration info will be
preserved. You can register by sending USD $10.00 and YOUR ID NUMBER
AND EMAIL ADDRESS to:

Bill Ezell
PO Box 108
Temple, NH 03084-0108 USA

You can send a check in USD, or an international money order.
You can also pay via First Virtual, www.fv.com, if you want to use
a credit card. Send me your fv pin along with the above information.

You can also email me your ID number if you lost your database
and I'll email you a replacement key.

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED another of my shareware programs,
you can register Traveler for only $5. Be sure you indicate that
you have registered before.

A NOTE ON CALCULATIONS:
All calculations are done in floating point, and rounding is performed
on display. Even if a display field only shows two fractional digits,
whatever you actually input is stored and used in calculations.
The main screen AMOUNT button pops up a numeric keypad. When you
enter an amount in local currency, up to three additional taxes, tips,
or other percentage-based amounts are added and the results displayed
in both the local currency and your home currency. The OTHER button
lets you add a fixed amount, NOT a percentage, to the total.
The RATE button lets you set the exchange rate used. You can choose
whether the rate is in local/home or home/local units using the
Other Settings... item in the main OPTION menu.

The OPTION menu allows you to change your home or local settings, or
use the OTHER selection to set the currency conversion method.

The EDIT menu allows you cut and paste, and post to a memo.

In the registered version, the RECORD menu is where you can save,
load, or delete local records. Even if you delete the current record,
its information is still present as the current local information,
and will not be lost until you change to a new locale.

When you edit the local settings, you must provide a locale name
and a currency name. Optionally, you can specify the date and time
format, and name up to three 'taxes' and their associated percentages.

Whenever you modify a record's information, you will be prompted to
save it if you are about to do something that would replace it.

The NEW selection clears the current record. Nothing is deleted from
the database, only DELETE does that.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT TIME:
You can check either local time or home time on the main window.
THIS WILL CHANGE THE ACTUAL TIME SETTINGS OF YOUR PILOT!
Using this, you can switch to local time so that your calendar and
such will be in local time. However, be careful if you have switched
to local time and then change the timezone info in the local or home
settings.

I welcome feedback, positive and negative.
